Meditation Classes
meditation classes
Our weekly drop-in classes are held in-person on Monday evenings from 7.30-9.30pm each week at our space at 21 Effra Parade. We teach one of two fundamental meditation practices that can help to develop clarity, positivity and peace of mind: The Mindfulness of Breathing, and the Metta Bhavana, or Loving-Kindness meditation.Â
We also hold lunchtime classes, but currently we are on a summer break for those at the moment so please join us for our Monday evening class.
Who are our weekly meditation classes for?Â
Our weekly meditation classes are suitable for beginners and for experienced meditators who wish to deepen their practice. There is a space specifically for newcomers and those wishing to learn the two practices we teach, from the beginning. This is also a great space for those who would like to refresh their knowledge of the practices. For regular attendees to our meditation classes, we offer space in the main shrine room where there may be longer periods of meditation and sometimes less guidance, as well as more in-depth teaching and exploration to help you develop your meditation practice.Â
We meet at 7.30pm in the main shrine room, though you may want to arrive earlier to get settled. Newcomers then move to the smaller shrine room. Both classes meet again for a tea break halfway through the class. There’s no need to book, or to let us know you are coming. Classes are held every Monday, including bank holidays, with the exception of two weeks in December when our centre is closed.

Why meditate with us?
Our teachers are ordained members of the Triratna Buddhist Order, or those training for ordination, and all have many years experience of committed personal practice of meditation and Buddhism.Â
Our aim is to provide a place where people can meditate together and explore Buddhism as a living spiritual tradition. You don’t have to be a Buddhist to come to our meditation classes. We welcome anyone who wants to come along to learn about meditation and Buddhism.
We offer lots of opportunities to meditate together in addition to Monday night classes, such as retreats, courses and workshops. Most events are open to everyone, and most are by donation. Find out about our classes and events.Â
