The Sound of One Hand: An evening with Satyadasa
Satyadasa, author of The Sound Of One Hand, is visiting Brixton to lead an evening of meditation, reflections on the ups and down of spiritual practice and personal stories from his book. Subhuti writes: ‘Satyadasa lays himself bare, revealing struggles, personal and spiritual that will be familiar to many of us, whilst also providing a truthful and inspiring account of a spiritual community as it matures.’
The Sound Of One Hand gives a loose and relatable mythos of what it means to become a Buddhist: the trepidation of the first retreat, meeting a revered teacher, moving into and out of a spiritual community, feeling devoted and inspired and then rather sick of it all. Satyadasa will be sharing some of these themes and weaving in the story of growing up with a disability. Copies can be purchased at www.satyadasa.com
Satyadasa is a lawyer, health coach and member of the Triratna Buddhist Order since 2011. He teaches at the London Buddhist Centre, leads retreats and is currently the Buddhist tutor at Eton College. He lives with his family in East London.
