The Evolving Mind – Online Course

April 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm BST

The Evolving Mind – Evolutionary Buddhism

Buddhist perspectives on the nature of our reality accord well with current scientific understandings of biology, physics, cosmology and consciousness.

This 6-week course on the Evolving Mind, merges Buddhist meditations and practical reflections, with a fascinating look at scientific and Buddhist understandings of the development of consciousness.

We will present a theory that the evolution of consciousness has not only taken place at a species level through biological evolution, but also operates at the level of the group and individual through cultural and spiritual development. We will look at scientific and experiential evidence for this, and explore how both science and Buddhism might support this hypothesis.

Alongside this, we’ll be seeing how more traditional Buddhist teachings can inform our investigations; by undertaking weekly guided meditations, exercises and reflections, aimed at deepening our contemplation of our own place in the universe.

This course is suitable for those newer to Buddhism, meditation or scientific theories of evolution, as well as experienced practitioners who have completed courses with us before.

Six Tuesday evenings via zoom, starting Tuesday 20th April 7:00pm – 9:00pm with a break

Led by Viryanaga, an ordained Buddhist and Doctor of Cognitive Neuroscience.

Booking Essential.

This course is free of charge but all donations are gratefully received. We’d suggest £75/£100 depending on your income.
