Parinirvana Day Ritual

February 14 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm GMT

Parinirvana Day marks the death of the Buddha’s physical body. It is a precious opportunity to contemplate what death means for an enlightened being and what it means for us. We invite you to join Suddhaka and the Brixton community (Sangha) to mark Parinirvana Day with an evening puja (ritual) with readings.

There will be an opportunity for people to remember loved ones who died over the past year by having their names read out during a short Metta Bhavana.

Join and participate in a online ritual on Sunday 14th February led by Suddhaka.

All welcome.

To participate in this ritual you might like to set up a small ‘shrine’ including a Buddha image or other objects that represents your ideals. For this ritual you might like to include photos of those who have died who you would like to remember. There will be a chance to make offerings to your shine during the ritual if you would like to, for example flowers, candles or incense.

If you’ve never attended a Buddhist ritual before you are welcome to watch or join in as you wish.

For a general guide on what Buddhist ritual is and why we practice it you can see our explainer videos here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuCn8zKjMJTM6QBVezAe0HIDvrXEWOM1D
