Parinirvana Day Festival

17th February @ 2:30 pm - 7:15 pm GMT

Death is the great mystery that awaits us all. Our lives are lived knowing this, but so often we don’t want to talk about it. From a Buddhist perspective, a deep understanding of impermanence will help us see how to live and love more fully.

Parinirvana Day, which marks the day the Buddha let go of his earthly body, is an opportunity to both celebrate the life of the Buddha, and to recognise the transient nature of our own human experience.

Open to everyone, we’ll have talks, meditation, reflection and Buddhist ritual, and a chance to connect with friends old and new in the community. If you’ve never attended a Buddhist ritual before you are welcome to watch or join in as you wish.

You are welcome to bring photos of loved ones who have died over the past year or that you particularly want to remember, to place on the shrine. Please let us know on the day if you would like a loved one’s name read out in the special Metta Bhavana meditation practice.
