On this event for the men of the Brixton Buddhist community we’ll be taking as our inspiration the building of the Buddhist monastery Samye in 8th century Tibet.

The king of Tibet had decided to convert to Buddhism and wanted desperately to build a great Buddhist monastery.  But despite much physical effort and progress during the day, every night the demons of Tibet tore it down.

The king begged the greatly mysterious guru Padmasambhava for help. Using his magic powers, he managed to tame the demons, and with their help the glorious monastery of Samye was built and consecrated. This ushered in a golden age of Tibetan Buddhism.

In this morning event, we’ll be exploring what the monastery is for us, and how we build it? And what are the demons that disrupt our attempts to build the life we really want?

Come along for lively talks, discussion, and meditation on the theme, and to deepen your Buddhist practice, inspiration and friendship in the community.
