Meditation Day Retreat

In this day-long meditation workshop, we’ll exploring the two foundational practices we teach, the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana, or loving-kindness meditation.

The story of The Jewel and the Drunkard will help us illustrate the full potential of these practices. In this story drunkeness symbolises our habitual tendency to ruminate, indulge in blame and petty resentment, and hanker after all the things, experiences and people we don’t have or own. The jewel represents the clarity, radiance and emotional positivity that we can cultivate in meditation, as our minds become increasingly free of these tendencies.

You’ve probably already realised that the collective energy of meditating with others makes it easier to get somewhere with your own meditation. Come and experience for yourself the effect of a whole day spent in discussion, meditation and being part of a community.

This retreat day is suitable for both those with a regular meditation practice, those who have learned the Mindfulness of Breathing and the Metta Bhavana on our regular Monday night drop-ins, as well as those newer to meditation, but not for complete newcomers. Led by Maitrinara and Lizzy.

  • 10am-4pm, with a shared lunch – please bring a vegan lunch to share
