Meditate with Confidence – Re-energise your meditation practice
In our meditation practice, just as in our wider lives, it’s important to keep things fresh, alive and enjoyable. It can be easy to fall into a routine that is out of touch with what really matters. We can be left with a sense that meditation has become a chore rather than a source of insight and inspiration.
It can be tempting to blame ourselves, and we may feel that we are not “good” at meditation or somehow not doing it right. The truth is that, by engaging more creatively with ourselves and looking deeper into our minds, we can re-energise our mediation practice and make it work for us on a new level.
This four week course will teach you how to keep your meditation alive and effective, so that it can invigorate and enrich your daily life.
It will delve into hindrances to meditation, conditions that support our practices along with working with energy and receptivity. The course will involve practical instruction from experienced meditation teachers, practical exercises and led meditations, as well as explorations of what actually happens in our minds when we sit.
Building on the foundation of your existing meditation practice, this course will develop week-by-week to explore new or challenging areas, leading to an intensification of your practice and helping you to get back in touch with how meditation can bring real change to your mind and your life off the cushion.
This course is suitable for those who have been regularly meditating for six months or more.
Led by Viryanaga

Booking Essential, places limited
Our courses are free to book, but all donations are gratefully received. We are completely reliant on your gifts to run these events, and to keep them free for those without the means to give financially. We’d suggest a donation of £70/£40 for the whole 4-week course, depending on your income.
– Can I come if I’m new or if I’m not a Buddhist? –
All of our courses are open to everyone, regardless of whether they consider themselves to be Buddhist. Newcomers to meditation are warmly welcomed at most of our events, however this course is aimed at those with an established meditation practice. If you are new to meditation you may wish to check out our Monday night class which is open to all levels of experience and is a great place to learn to meditate.
– I can’t make all the dates, can I still do the course? –
If you cannot do the whole course, then it is ok to miss a week or two of the series. However, it is good to make as many as you can. The material in the courses develops over the weeks, and you may find it difficult to follow if you miss too many. We do ask that everyone is at least able to make the first week of the course, so that we can all start the course together.
– What if I can’t afford to come? –
All our courses are free to book, with a suggested or recommended donation. We do this so that anyone experiencing serious financial difficulties can book on without giving any donation at all if they cannot afford to do so.
Obviously our courses do require money to run, so we rely on the generous donations from those that can afford to pay the full cost in order to subsidise those who cannot afford to do so. This is in accordance with the Buddhist principle of open-handed generosity. We are pleased to say that in the many years we have offered courses in this way, most people decide to give, and those that are unable to do so at the present time are very appreciative of still having the opportunity to attend.
– Can you claim Gift-Aid on my donation? –
Yes, we are able to claim Gift-Aid on your course donation if you have made any Gift-Aid eligible donations through our website in the past 4 years. This is a huge help to us, and is at no additional cost to you.
If you have not registered for Gift-Aid with us before and would like to do so, you can do this by making a donation of any amount through our website and clicking the ‘Gift-Aid’ box – https://brixtonbuddhistmeditation.org/donate
