Dharma Night at the Brixton Buddhist Community

Dharma Night is a public class for anyone interested in understanding and practicing the simple and profound teachings of Buddhism. With practice, this path is said to lead to a state of mind beyond dissatisfaction and suffering, toward a mind that is light, spacious and filled with joy.

This class is especially suitable for those newer to Buddhism, who might be exploring Dharma teachings for the first time.

Each class covers a fundamental Buddhist theme or teaching and is built around a discussion between two experienced teachers. There will also be a short guided meditation, tea break and a chance for questions.

Dharma Night: From Metta to Insight

This 6 week Dharma Night series explores the experience and expression of Mettã. ‘Mettã’ is a Pali word which almost fully captures the spiritual ideal of Buddhist practitioners, yet it is an experience which cannot be described by words alone.

In this final week of the series, we will discuss how the cultivation of Mettã is not just for the sake of developing skillful actions or positive mental states, but in itself can lead to the arriving of insight and ultimately, Enlightenment. If we can experience for ourselves that there is no difference between our own true interests and those of others, then all of our energies would be fully and completely integrated around acting for the good of all.

** Please note – social distancing and wearing of masks is required to attend this class. **

Spaces are limited, so a free **booking is required** to reserve your place.

This class is provided free of charge, but we are powered by your generosity, so all donations are greatly appreciated. We suggest around £10/£5 (low waged) per class.
