Dharma Night: The Assembly of the Noble

14th July @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm BST

Dharma Night at the Brixton Buddhist Community

Dharma Night is a public class for anyone interested in understanding and practicing the simple and profound teachings of Buddhism. With practice, this path is said to lead to a state of mind beyond dissatisfaction and suffering, toward a mind that is light, spacious and filled with joy.

This class is especially suitable for those newer to Buddhism, who might be exploring Dharma teachings for the first time.

Each week covers a fundamental Buddhist theme or teaching and is built around a discussion between two experienced teachers. There will also be a short guided meditation, tea break and a chance for questions.

Dharma Night: The Assembly of the Noble

Currently at Dharma night we are exploring the Three Jewels, representing the ideal of the Buddha, the path of the Dharma and and the community of enlightened practitioners, who work to radiate the light of awakening into the world.

This five week series will look at glimmering facets of the Sangha jewel; the Spiritual Community that inspires and guides us on the path towards enlightenment.

This Wednesday, we start by exploring the Assembly of the Noble. Although ‘sangha’ has come to mean the whole spiritually community, traditionally it refers to the Arya or noble Sangha of the Buddha’s enlightened followers. In this first week we will see how the Buddha recognised different temperaments within his followers, such as those predominantly drawn towards faith, wisdom or beneficial activity and valued each according to their strengths. As for us, this teaching can be a helpful way of finding which forms of practice we might find most beneficial for spiritual growth.

** Please note – social distancing and wearing of masks is required to attend this class. **
