BUDDHA DAY – The Ideal of Human Enlightenment

May 19 @ 6:30 pm - 9:15 pm BST

BUDDHA DAY – The Ideal of Human Enlightenment

The Buddha lived over 2,500 years ago, yet Buddhists all over the world still celebrate his life and his teachings in the festival of Buddha Day, or Wesak. His spiritual quest to liberate himself and others from the pain and sufferings of worldly things has continued to inspire people throughout the centuries.

We’ll be rejoicing in the Buddha in Brixton Buddhist Community’s Buddha Day celebrations along with four Mitra Ceremonies for members of our sangha that have decided to formally mark their commitment to the Buddhist path within the Triratna Buddhist Community.

These ceremonies are a rich time for celebration and well wishing, as they mark a new stage of transformation in each person’s journey as a Buddhist practitioner.

Programme (times in BST)

6.30pm – Talk & Meditation: The Ideal of Human Enlightenment
7.00pm – “Why am I a Buddhist?” talks from the mitras to be
8.00pm – Mitra Ceremonies
9.15pm – Finish
