CLASSES
We’ll be hosting all our classes on the same days and times as usual online during the COVID-19 pandemic. Go to our homepage to see upcoming classes, or subscribe to our YouTube channel for all our latest live streams and video content.
Our aim is to provide a local situation in which people can meditate together, and explore Buddhism as a living spiritual tradition, within a friendly and active community of like-minded people.
You don’t have to be a Buddhist to come to our classes. We welcome anyone who wants to come along to learn about meditation and Buddhism.
Our teachers are ordained members of the Triratna Buddhist Order, or those training for ordination, and all have many years experience of committed personal practice of meditation and Buddhism.

MONDAY NIGHT MEDITATION
We run weekly drop-in meditation classes on Monday evenings from 7.30-9.30pm.
At these classes we offer the opportunity to learn two fundamental meditation practices that help to develop clarity, positivity and peace of mind. These classes are suitable for beginners, as well as those with experience seeking to deepen their practice.
The first half of the class includes practical instruction and reflections on a theme via YouTube livestream, followed by a chance for questions and group discussion via Zoom in the second half. The online class will wrap up at 9.00pm. Check our events page for links to each week’s class.
You can watch previous weeks classes on our YouTube channel or watch our Learn to Meditate playlist to hear the basics.
DHARMA NIGHT
Dharma Night is a public class for anyone interested in understanding and practicing the simple and profound teachings of Buddhism. With practice, this path is said to lead to a state of mind beyond dissatisfaction and suffering, toward a mind that is light, spacious and filled with joy.
This class is especially suitable for those newer to Buddhism, who might be exploring Dharma teachings for the first time.
Each class covers a fundamental Buddhist theme or teaching and is built around a discussion between two experienced teachers. There will also be a short guided meditation, tea break and a chance for questions.
This class is currently being live-streamed via Youtube due to the current lockdown. When we’re able to, we’ll return to running these classes in-person at Effra Space.
Catch up with our latest Dharma Night livestreams on our Youtube Channel.

Please arrive between 7.15-7.25pm for a prompt 7.30pm start.
Suggested Donation £10 Waged/£5 Unwaged.
All Welcome. Classes continue to run on Bank Holidays.
Buddhism & Meditation Classes
Wednesday’s class is open to all those who know the two fundamental meditation practices we teach and are able to sit in meditation without guidance. If you’ve come to our Monday class a few times or learned these practices at another Triratna centre, then you will be fine to come to this class.
Classes usually begin with a 30-40 minute meditation session, followed by a tea break, after which there will be an exploration of a Buddhist theme. Usually this will be in the form of a short talk, discussion and reflection.
This class is a great way to learn about the basic principles of Buddhism and meet like-minded people who will be able to support you in your practice.
